At time of writing I’m enjoying a brief respite between attending MCM London Comic Con and UK Games Expo on back to back weekends. This just three weeks after getting married, and two weeks after getting back from my honeymoon. And two days after the Succession finale. What a month!

End of 2019
Six months since I last posted! Unlike last time, I’m not going to make the mistake of promising to restart regular blogging again. I should have known better than to tempt fate.
As before, I’ll present evidence of the RPG work I’ve been doing instead of blogging, by way of an apology. Continue reading
I Still Exist
Long time since I wrote anything substantial here. Other than promotional posts, I haven’t blogged since 2018. But it’s for the best possible reason really – I haven’t been writing about roleplaying games on my blog, because I’ve been too busy doing paid design gigs for roleplaying games instead. Continue reading
GenCon, Nine Worlds and What’s Coming Up
I think I’m getting old. I spent all of last weekend at Nine Worlds complaining about how tired I was, how stupid it was to attend the week after GenCon, and how I’d never be that stupid again. So I was pretty surprised to look back at old blog posts and learn that not only did I do the same cons back-to-back two years ago, but that I seemed pretty chipper by the end of it. The weary refrain of all men in their late-twenties: grant me the long-lost vigour of my mid-twenties. Continue reading
17 Great Things About Roleplaying in 2017
I think 2017 was a pretty good year, certainly compared to the one before. Here are my 17 highlights from a year with lots and lots of roleplaying games! Continue reading
Hear My Voice: RPG Seminar Recordings
Just a short update this time. I’ve not been blogging too regularly since the start of the year, but I’ve tasked myself with posting at least once a month – even if it ends up being literally the last day of month, like today. I think some discipline is good, to keep things going and justify continuing to pay for the site. Happily I’ve got enough of a back catalogue now that I’m still getting a fair amount of hits, and it’s gratifying to know there is content here people are still finding useful. Continue reading
Review of 2016
There are plenty of more socio-political aware blogs providing commentary on the atrocity that was 2016. I don’t have much to add to that, only to say that, even disregarding international events, personally this has been the worst year of my life.
I played some cool roleplaying games though 🙂 Continue reading
31 Days, 9 Worlds and 1 Dystopian Universe
August is over and normal life is restored. GenCon is already receding into memory. Dragonmeet is pencilled in as my next exciting RPG event, but that’s still a long way away. I’ve got plenty of ways to round off my year in gaming before then.
So what have I been up to since GenCon, and what is coming up? Here’s a round-up. Continue reading
GenCon 2016: Day Four and Awards Conclusion
The dream is over, at least for a year. GenCon 2016 is concluded. I’m back in the UK now, readjusting to normal life, before I head off to Nine Worlds tomorrow. Sorry this is so late… Continue reading
GenCon 2016: Day Three
I did the game thing! In fact it’s been most of my day. Started off with Games on Demand for a 2 hour game of Leverage (probably my only chance to play it since most my friends don’t like it), and concluded by running a Firefly Fate Core game for friends (using my hack!). In between, I listened in to a rules explanation for RuneWars, played a short demo of Star Wars Rebellion (which I know isn’t new, but it was to me), and following the recommendation of another great Shut Up and Sit Down live podcast, went hunting for Captain Sonar. Even after a short try, I can understand why SU&SD declared it their most exciting game of the con, and I’m devastated it’s now sold out at the booth. Definitely one to pick up when I get home though. Continue reading
